On Wednesday, February 14, The City and Nation Backyard Membership of Newtown will current a workshop that includes “The Artwork and Mechanics of Underwater Floral Design.”

Underwater floral design focuses on preparations the place some or all plant materials and parts are submerged in water. She grew up in Massachusetts surrounded by woods and flowers. Her dad, a passionate gardener, grew all of the annuals and greens for his or her house whereas her mother exhibited nice creativity designing floats for boat parades and different native occasions.

Ms Townsend inherited their passions and talent. Her ardour for flower design elevated through the years, as she traveled, attended flower exhibits, and took lessons. Ms Townsend, who can be a member of the City & Nation membership, has attended the Past Beginnings Workshops sponsored by the FGCCT Judges Council. Deb Osborne, a previous president of The Backyard Membership of Newtown, has gained quite a few awards as nicely. Her curiosity in floral preparations additionally confirmed at an early age.

“I started arranging flowers after I was a bit of woman, placing wildflowers in jelly jars,” Ms Osborne mentioned. “I experimented with designs on the Hartford Flower Present for 3 years earlier than I noticed that I wanted extra experience.
